FAQ: Template Scheduling

Modified on Tue, May 3, 2022 at 10:24 AM

Q1: How does the schedule work in a playlist?

When you set a schedule for a template, you are setting a window of time during which the template is allowed to play. Outside of this window, the template will be skipped. The scheduled time will work relative to the time zone set on the player, so make sure that the time zone is set. You can set the time zone in the player settings with the remote control, or on Player Status by clicking the orange Actions button.

Q2: Why did my template not start displaying at the exact time I set?

The scheduler is not designed to force specific templates to start displaying at exact times. When you set a schedule, you are defining the window of time during which the template is allowed to play. The player will continually rotate through all playlist items in order, and when it comes to a template which is scheduled, it will check the schedule to determine whether to display that template or skip it.

Q3: How do I set the schedule for a template?

First, click the Edit button to put the playlist into edit mode:

Click the Calendar icon to open the schedule window:

Set your desired schedule, then click Save:

Your schedule will now display on the template. Set schedules for any other templates if desired, then click Save to save all changes to the playlist:

Q4: How do I set a schedule that...

  • ...displays from now until a specific date/time?

Leave "Start" unchecked, check "End" and set the desired date/time.

  • ...starts displaying at a specific date/time, then plays indefinitely?

Check "Start" and set the desired date/time, and leave "End" unchecked.

  • ...repeats on certain days during a specific time window?

Check "Start" and "End", and leave both date fields set to the current date. Uncheck "All Day" if desired and set the time windows. Check "Repeat" at the bottom of the edit window. You can choose to repeat the schedule every day, every other day, or on specific weekdays. You can also set an end date after which the repeating schedule will end.

Q5: Why is my template not displaying during the time window I set?

If your player is skipping a scheduled template during a time when the template is scheduled to display, there are a few things you'll want to check:

  • Verify that the player is connected to the internet. You can check this on Player Status, or on the player itself with the remote control (Home > Help > Run Internet Test).
  • Verify that the time zone is set correctly on the player (Player Status > Actions > Set Time Zone).
  • Verify that Automatic Date & Time is enabled in your player settings (with the remote control, navigate to Home > Settings > Device > Date & Time > Automatic Date & Time).
  • If you are still having issues, please contact our support team during business hours and we will be happy to assist you.
