Problem: Google Calendar events show up, but event titles are missing

Issue:

You have added a calendar link to a Google Calendar template and events appear at the correct time, but without any title or description. For example:

This issue indicates that there is a permissions issue with your Google Calendar preventing the event details from being displayed.

Solution:

  • Open Google Calendar in a new browser tab
  • Find the calendar under "My calendars"
    • If the calendar appears under "Other calendars", then you do not have permission to manage sharing settings for the calendar. You'll have to ask the calendar owner to either give you permission or follow these steps themselves.
  • Mouse over the calendar and click "...", then "Settings and sharing"
  • Under "Access permissions for events", ensure that "Make available to public" is checked, and the dropdown next to it is set to "See all event details"
    • If "See all event details" is grayed out, then there is most likely a GSuite/Google Workplace restriction in place. An admin for your Google organization will need to change the Calendar Sharing Options and make sure the External Sharing Options are NOT set to "Only free/busy information". More details can be found in this Google support article.
