Microsoft Power BI Settings

Before your PowerBI Dashboard, Report, Data can display correctly. You will need to adjust the 2 settings below



Set Up needed for PowerBI to display correctly -

1. Enable Service Principal API Access

2. Add Service Principal to your PowerBI Workspace




1. Enable Service Principal API Access


From your PowerBI Home page, click the Settings button in the top right corner of the screen and then Admin Portal. (If you do not have the Admin Portal option, you will need to contact your account administrator to complete these steps.)


From the Admin Portal you will need to scroll down to Developer Settings, and enable the setting Service Principals can use Fabric APIs


Note: You can update the security settings to match with your policies, however the truDigital service principal will require read access to your PowerBI workspaces.



2. Add Service Principal to your PowerBI Workspace


In the workspace view, click Manage Access in the top right corner, then click Add people or groups.


Enter the name truDigital, and the truDigital Service Principal should automatically fill. You can assign this viewer, member, or admin. Though we recommend the principal has Member access. 


Finally Click Add, the service principal will now be able to access the Dashboards and Reports for this workspace
